You Belong Here & Your Story Matters
My name is Tanis Petry. I am a Registered Social Work Therapist (RSW #11621) in the Province of Alberta, with over two decades of frontline clinical practice in mental health. 27 years ago I started volunteering in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside Community working with Indigenous youth and never looked back. I have worked in complex settings with vulnerable populations, Indigenous Child & Family Services, correctional facilities, non-profits, public & private healthcare settings, probation, addictions treatment centres, low barrier housing, Psychedelic Assisted Therapy, supervised graduate students, provide consultation for community organizations & taught a course at the University of Calgary.
I hold a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work (MSW, 2018) and a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW 2006).
My trauma informed clinical practice integrates evidenced based treatment models, including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Psychedelic Integration, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (TF- CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Compassionate Inquiry (CI), Recovery Capital and creative engagement strategies. Concepts of Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Parts Work (IFS), Intersectionality, Developmental Psychopathology, Attachment and Bio-psychosocial theories inform my integrative counselling services.

As your Therapist, my priority is to provide you a uniquely vintage trauma focused space, where you will never be judged, but rather held accountable in a safe & gentle manner. My goal is to see you move from surviving to thriving- to find hope once again. It's possible you might even laugh. Swearing optional. Plenty of boujie Kleenex (the lotion infused kind).
It takes an incredible amount of courage to reach out for help. I would be honoured to walk beside you in your healing journey. Until we meet, Hold Fast, for this too shall pass.
